Q & A: Garth Cook

This time we've interviewed masterful Perth designer Garth Cook. Garth recently made his RAFW debut in the New Gen show. Prior to that he spent 3 years in London under the fashion tutelage of Mario Schwarb...

What's playing on your iPod at the moment?

Crystal Castles, Hole, Scissor Sisters, Temper Trap and NEW Kylie!

What book are you currently reading?

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

What item in your wardrobe is getting the most wear at the moment?

A Preen hooded jacket.

Where do you buy most of your clothes?

Zekka and Dilettante in Perth.

Do you have any favourite current trends?

Lots of layers.

Can you describe what your workroom looks like?

A total mess... fabric and patterns everywhere.

Is there anyone you'd like to see wearing your designs?

80s Winona Ryder, or Chloe Sevigny.

When and where do you feel most inspired?

Late at night whilst reading.

Could you give us any tidbits about your next collection?

Walking through ghosts.

What's the best fashion advice you've been given?

Don't pad out your knees. I was most unfortunate whilst wearing denim cargo jeans to a dingy pub in Shoreditch. Whilst drunk I put my wallet and phone into the pocket of my knee. A design assistant from Margiela noticed my style and thought I was starting a new trend...
